• I searched supermarkets such as Seiyu, Life, Maruetsu Petit, Olympic, but could not find GABA tomatoes.
  According to the special sales information on the flyer, they have been sold at Delicia, Every Big Day, Esmart, Toko Store, etc.

Genome editing snapper

• In September 2021, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare accepted a “genome-edited food” notification submitted by a university-initiated startup company for a sea bream whose meat was improved using genome editing technology to efficiently modify genes. This is the second case in Japan, following tomatoes, which contain a large amount of ingredients that help suppress increases in blood pressure, and will allow the sea bream to be distributed and marketed commercially.

• AquaBounty Technologies, a biotechnology company, produces AquAdvantage Salmon, a genetically modified salmon that incorporates a growth hormone gene derived from king salmon into Atlantic salmon.

ゲノム編集の鯛

• 2021年9月、日本の厚生労働省は、遺伝子を効率よく改変するゲノム編集技術を使って肉厚に改良したマダイについて、大学発の新興企業が提出した「ゲノム編集食品」の届け出を受理した。血圧の上昇を抑える働きがある成分を多く含むトマトに続き国内２例目で、マダイは流通や市販ができるようになる。
